Description

Zhao Yu, born in Yunnan in 1993, currently living and working in Chongqing, China. He graduated from the oil painting department of Sichuan academy of fine arts with a bachelor’s degree and a master degree.

The extensive use of cold colors in Zhao’s paintings, the elaborate arrangement of architectural structures and the pursuit of extreme details. Although the subject matter is completely different, the extremely realistic details, the control of light and color, and the irrational shapes in their works make the picture look real, but it is only possible in fantasy. The technique of painting creates a photo-realistic effect, and the visual illusion creates an atmosphere of mystery and unreality. His work explores people’s subconscious world, breaks through logic and reality, abandons orderly visual memory, and pursues free space of consciousness.

In 2018, his won the third prize of “Asopala art star” in 25th annual exhibition. In 2018, he won the excellence award in the 14th annual graduate exhibition of Sichuan academy of fine arts.
