Description

Dong He, born in 1982 in Liao Yang, Liao Ning province, and currently working in Beijing. He graduated from the oil painting department of central university for nationalities.

Dong’s work is a kind of unconscious painting, in which the brush strokes are either shallow or deep, as casual as wondering in water. The flower-like images symbolize the pain and beauty of life, the memory of the moment when flowers bloom and fall, the desire to capture the floating, the reality that is not clear in dreams, or the cycle of life. The red is so bright and vivid, with the natural color of the magnificent, the general vitality and feelings of blood, it is not only the scars and temptation, but also death and rebirth. The character may be ignored in his picture, but it does exist and is in a state of unawareness. The overlapping strokes and layered colors make the picture both soft and vigorous.

He won the Yue-Sai Kan Chinese new artist award and the 20th republic of Korea new style art award. He participated in the Oooit Art international residency project in 2018 in the Netherlands.
